Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention. Sir Francis Bacon

Amish Prayers
Beverly Lewis has compiled a selection of prayers from the prayer book of the Amish. They are translated from the original German. They are organized into topical chapters such as Prayers for a New Day, Prayers for Comfort, and Prayers for Purity of Heart. Lewis wrote an introduction for the book and paired each prayer with Scripture.
There is a reason that these prayers have been around so long. They are Biblical, thought provoking, and honoring of God. The reader is left with plenty to think about over the course of a day. They express the prayers that I often cannot find the words for. Often, the prompt me into deeper prayer and meditation of Scripture. Not all of these prayers were written for private prayer. Some of them are for groups as well. There is simple, beautiful artwork through the book. This book is great for personal use or to share as a gift. This book receives a 5 out of 5.
Beverly Lewis is an award winning author of over 80 books for all ranges of ages. She is a member of the National League of American Pen Women. She and her husband are parents and grandparents.
